Fender
is the number-one electric guitar company in the world. Players
of the Stratocaster include(d) Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Stevie
Ray Vaughn, Jeff Beck, Robert Cray and Kim Mitchell. The Telecaster
is played by virtually every country lead guitarist - as well
as that Bruce Springsteen fella. Fender guitars are made in the
USA and in Mexico. |
|
Squire
guitars are a division of Fender. Those who are not ready for
an American- or Mexican-made Fender might consider a Mexican or
overseas Squire. |
|
Gibson
is "neck-and-neck" with Fender in the race for the world's
best electric guitar. The Gibson Les Paul is played by Jimmy Page,
Peter Frampton, Ace Frehley and Slash, to name a few. The most
noted player of the SG model is AC/DC's Angus Young. The Gibson
hollow-bodies are (were) the guitars of choice for many bluesmen
such as BB King and John Lee Hooker, as well as jazz greats such
as Joe Pass and Wes Montgomery. |
|
Epiphone
has been around since 1873. After the company was bought by Gibson
in 1957, they started replicating the entire line of Gibson guitars.
These are made overseas, and can therefore fit into a budget,
yet they are all still good enough to bear the name Gibson on
the headstock. The Beatles recorded several songs using Epiphones. |
|
Though
renowned mostly for their acoustic
guitars, Guild makes some fantastic high-end electric
guitars, including the Bluesbird and Starfire. |
|
DeArmond
is a line of guitars produced by Guild. These reasonably-priced
instruments are rapidly becoming recognized for their excellent
quality. Distributed through Fender. |
|
Yamaha
makes a great line of electric guitars, from the Pacifica series
to the AES guitars. The most noteworthy Yamaha player is Canada's
own Rik Emmitt. |
|
Danelectro
retains the style of the 1950's in their guitars and their effects
pedals. Their instruments are quite unique. |
|
Most
of the Samick guitars (that we carry) are entry-level. They are
fine instruments that fit into any budget. |
